How Often Do You Break Down?

Re: How Often Do You Break Down?

I must admit ours aren't "spotless"....more like our housekeeping, "Clean enough to be HEALTHY and dirty enough to be HAPPY."  wink

Re: How Often Do You Break Down?

My rifles get a good cleaning after every trip to the range, the same with the shotgun since they spend more time in the safe. Pistols not so much, 2 Glocks, a Ruger revolver and a Sig Mosquito that works better when it's cleaned less often. And every few months I break each gun down and scrubem good. I also keep a small cleaning kit in the range bag in case they need a bit of oil or a patch to wipe it down.

Re: How Often Do You Break Down?

Just got a new AR-15 and was wondering the best way to clean it.  Really appreciate all comments.

Personally I'm more of an AK-47 guy ("Cleaning??.....we don't need no steenk'n cleaning.").  wink
A ton of related info over on the AR15.com site and on YouTube of course.

Interesting...I'd heard the 'squitos were finicky so figured more cleaning was better.
BTW, welcome to the Forum!

Re: How Often Do You Break Down?

I liked this one:http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_7/456002 … pics_.html

And this one seemed pretty good - any thoughts on the amount of lube?  How often do people do this vs. cleaning?
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_7/548967 … OINTS.html

This was ok:

Youtube - seems like a mixed bag.

How often do people clean the different groups?  I've read through the tread about cleaning the bore and such, how often does everyone disassemble the bolt and clean the insides?  Any differences with lubrication?

They are a finikey little gun. I clean it probably every 500+ rounds. I keep it oiled. It's also has a taste for certain ammo.

As for an AK style gun, my Saiga 12 is a dirty lovin' shotgun. It takes about 10 shells to get it good and dirty enough for it to run better. I swear it hates oil.
